Most will remember Buddy Brooks from his younger years of racing and banging bars with a lot of the best mid west riders around. Among the many hat’s that Brooks wears, his work in the shop cannot go unnoticed. Brooks knows what it takes to build a competitive and reliable race bike. The level of care he imparts into each engine build is not only noteworthy, but a bit maddening. These bikes are Brook’s babies. So, what is the perfect bike that he starts with? Brooks loves the Honda 250, then he customizes the heck out of it.

“These bikes will carry our team across the finish line, and I know that a really good bike can sometimes overcompensate for a teammates personal mistake on the track. I have the responsibility to take my time on every Bike I build and work them so that they are the best that they can possibly be.”

With this in mind, we sat down with Brooks and asked him what his perfect build looks like. Although, there are a few secret tweaks that Brooks could not bear to indulge, he was overtly kind enough to tell us exactly what brand he uses and then how he uses these parts to build not just a winning bike, but a bike that himself, one of supercross’s best, approves of.

Below are the bike parts that Brooks can not go without in his build. “You substitute one part with another brand, and it will not be the bike that I need”, say’s Brooks. “I have spent years testing these parts to the max. I have a rigorous testing system that must meet my high qualifications. I won’t swap anything out ever, unless something new comes on the market and it beats the part I have been using. However, that has not happened for a long time, and I get parts sent to me all the time to test.”, Brooks informed.
